Cover design for E eu não sei o que dizem os Sumérios ("And I don't know what the Sumerians say"), the debut of poet Daniel Iancóski Melo, published by Toma Aí Um Poema in 2026.

Poster, not cover. The reference is the street poster and the agitation printing of the early twentieth century — Mayakovsky, constructivism, the Brazilian modernism the author cites as an influence. The title splits into three blocks tilted at different angles: "E EU NÃO SEI" in cream on black, "O QUE DIZEM OS" in black on red, and "SUMÉRIOS" in red, enormous, filling half the page. The block edges are torn and there is printing grime, as if the ink had been laid down in a hurry.

Three colours, no image. Cream, black and red — the classic poster palette — and type alone. Hierarchy comes from size and angle, not weight: the eye reads top to bottom following the tilt of the blocks.

Back and flaps. The back cover continues the poster with a second typographic block — "Do not move, let the jolt of a grenade speak before the shrapnel" — and the spine is red. The flaps carry the author's portrait and the introduction, by João Victor Silva Borges.
