Ornament with a skeleton. The image looks like a floral ornament from an old engraving — acanthus leaves, symmetrical scrolls, a vase — until the eye travels down the stem and finds vertebrae. The plant is held up by a spine; the bones flower. It is the title turned into drawing: the bone-structure as the frame of the night, what holds firm when everything else sleeps.

Black, white and blue. The ornament in black line and white fill, over a black block, with blue entering the smaller leaves like a woodcut's second colour. The block edges dissolve into splatter at the foot, like ink that ran. The title in black serif at the top, over the white, and the author's name below, smaller.
