The eye that reads. Inside a black rectangle, an orange eye with bristling lashes melts into white and orange drops that run, rippling, down to an open book at the foot of the page. It is the chronicler who "sees grandeur in small things": the gaze drips into the book and becomes text. The line is illustrative, black outline with flat fill, like an engraving or a pen drawing coloured in afterwards.

Orange, black, white. Three colours. The black rectangle works as a stage (or as the end of the world); the orange is the eye, the book and the sap; the white, the melting and the page. Title in black serif at the top, subtitle in regular, and the author's name in serif at the foot. The TAUP colophon outside the rectangle, in the white margin.
