A leap. The image is a painting: a boy seen from behind, arms open, leaping over the tall grass of a dune, with the sea and a cloudy sky beyond. The texture of the canvas shows in the weave of the background. It is the "hot coffee on a cold day" the flap promises — affective memory, childhood, the ordinary that turns out extraordinary. The book is the author's debut in literature for young people and adults, and the cover has that tone of passage.

No interference. The painting fills the whole cover, without a frame; the title in white sans serif, bold, and the author's name below, in the lower right corner, where the grass darkens. The TAUP colophon on the spine. The image speaks; the type follows.

The open cover. The painting extends onto the back, with the dedication "For you." over the sky; navy-blue flaps with the author's portrait and the introduction.
